Having had a very successful year on the competition circuit, Sofia rounded off the summer with an invitation to compete at the Leon Paul Junior Series Epee Finals, in London. With seven extremely capable fencers in the field, Sofia set off in the poules with a winning intent. With 67% of matches won from those poules, she was seeded third for the DE, only by way of a lower indicator than the second place rival. The top three seeds for the DE being the only ones who managed positive indicator scores across the poules. However, the earlier start to the day and, the longer journey time to get to the arena, than her rivals, proved to be the turning point for Sofia, who was knocked out of the DE, despite a valiant effort against some accomplished competition. Overall, Sofia completed the competition in 5th place, which is a more than credible accomplishment given the fencing history and prowess of her rivals. Well done Sofia!
